De Djawatan is dominated by approximately 805 *trembesi* trees (*Samanea saman*); these trees are between 100 and 150 years old—spanning a century and a half—and have been growing since the Dutch colonial era. Their branches are covered in moss, epiphytes, and various ferns. Additionally, endemic birds and other wildlife inhabit the area.
